 Fundamentals of Performance  Consulting

Oct 6th and 13th

10 to 5, Central time; Virtual via Zoom

Description: This practicum-based program introduces the basic concepts of human performance improvement. The concepts are documented in the Performance Consultant’s Field Book: Tools and Techniques for Improving People and Organizations, 2nd edition (Jossey Bass, 2007). Attendees will receive a digital workbook containing the slides and a Toolkit with job aids, templates, and guidelines.   A certificate of completion will also be provided.

Details: The workshop describes the work required for systemic analysis, intervention design, sustaining change, and measuring results.  It builds capacity in two interdependent processes: performance improvement and the change management and consultative processes.
Who is this program for? The program is for internal and external consultants - trainers, coaches, training managers, and managers who want to strengthen their capacity in performance improvement consulting.
What will be covered? Human Performance Improvement Process
  • How to leverage the client’s information and why

  2. Leverage the information your client already uses and trusts.
  3. Uncover quickly the factors that contribute to poor performance and missed opportunities.
  4. Engage clients so they own the problem and the solution.
  5. Present information so clients understand the relationship between what they do, the problem, the recommended solution, and the consequences.
  6. Avoid the “silver bullet” syndrome.
  7. Avoid the “paralysis by analysis” trap.
  8. Overcome “there’s no money to evaluate” challenge.
